The best party for your child depends on their age. Under-5s love messy sensory art; 5 to 8-year-olds do brilliantly with canvas, pottery or slime; 8 to 12s enjoy decoupage, T-shirt design and clay; and teens (11 to 16) can try the potter’s wheel or make a mug. At Pictura in Chester every party lasts 2 hours, is led by a qualified art teacher, and studio parties of 10 start at £310.
Little ones want to touch, squish and splash, so pick a party that’s hands-on rather than one with lots of instructions.
From age 5, the canvas painting and pottery painting parties below work well too. For a smaller get-together, a Mini Arty Party is for up to 10 guests at a table in our Creative Studio: two hours, a hot chocolate or milkshake each, from £24 per guest, and you’re welcome to bring your own cake.

This is the age when a finished piece to show off really matters. These are our most popular choices:
Pottery painting uses food-safe glazes and is kiln-fired after the party, so it’s collected later. If you’d rather everything went home on the day, there’s a same-day acrylic option.
Older children like a bit more choice and something they’ll actually use or display.
Slime (ages 5 to 12) and canvas painting (5 to 16) are still great picks at this age.

Our teen-only parties have no younger children, smaller groups, student-grade materials and a more relaxed studio, still led by a qualified art teacher.
Extra guests on the teen make-a-mug party are £18 each. Wheel-thrown bowls take longer because they need extra drying time and two kiln firings.

Our sensory art party is for ages 3 to 8: four hands-on sensory trays, large wall or floor painting, and every child paints their own canvas to take home. Studio parties of 10 are £330.
Teens aged 11 to 16 can have a pottery wheel taster party (£400 for up to 6, studio only) or a teen make-a-mug party (£350 for up to 10 in the studio, £450 when we come to you).
Parties last 2 hours, including a 30-minute food break if you’re bringing food.
Prices are for 10 children: studio parties start from £310 and parties at your home or venue from £400. Extra children are £16 each (£18 on the teen make-a-mug party).
Yes. Food, cake, cutlery and party bags aren’t included, so you’re welcome to bring your own. Pizzas from our café are available to buy, or as an add-on to your party.
Pottery is glazed and kiln-fired after the party and is ready to collect in 4 weeks (6 weeks for the teen pottery wheel party). Once you get the email saying it’s ready, pop in during opening hours within 2 weeks. No appointment needed. Painted pottery is collection only.
